Discharged for being " unfit for further service " - his general character is good
Details of Service:- 17th Foot
Private 12th Sept 1841 to 12th Sept 1855, served 14 years 213 days
Entitled to wear the Distinguished Mark with Good Conduct Pay attached from 12 Feb 1846 although this was removed and reinstated on several occasions.
Finally discharged at Chatham 23rd October 1855, 41 days later, bringing his pensionable service to 14years 254 days.
Rendered unfit for service through ---?, giddiness, vertigo and impaired vision, the result of a gunshot wound to the right temple producing a fracture of the frontal and temporal bones, which occurred on 17th of February in the trenches?
