    Of interest is the oldest memorial to survive in All Saints Churchyard, Ratcliffe Culey; LEI, lying to the South West of the Chancel, (that ground being considered in pre-reformation times as being the most holy), a small roughly incised slab of Sarah's Brother Joseph Viz:-

    The Cheatle family were notable farmers at Bodymoor Heath close to the border with Lea Marston in the Parish of Kingsbury. There are numerous family memorials in the churchyard there. Today at Dosthill there is a building called Cheatle's Court and a farm at Bodymoor heath called Cheatle's Farm.

    Mary the widow of Joseph Cheatle of Ratcliffe Culey in her will dated 1 Aug 1767 named her daughter Sarah as executrix and her main beneficiary including her messuage. after her death in Feb 1797 probate was granted 27 April 1797 to her daughter Sarah wife of John Tonks.

    From the IGI, (1539 - 1663 and 1673 - 1834), there are no Brown baptisms at Kingsbury between 1697 and 1726 although the registers for this period are good. Browns are well represented in the period 1642 - 1827 over all.
    The hearth tax returns 1671 a William Browne occupied a cottage at Hurley Common owned by George Allsop of Tamworth it was empty in 1670 and the returns of 1673 and 1674 indicate only that the ownership was that of Allsop.
    On the 4 Sept 1715 Anne Browne Dau of William Browne was Baptised at Tamworth according to the IGI. The Tamworth Registers have yet to be read.

    N.B. there is no burial entry for Joseph Cheatle at either Ratcliffe or Sheepy. There is however a burial on April 25 1749/50 of Richard Cheatle at Sheepy Magna.
