Edward Francis and Charlotte had two sons: Edward, who was born in 1846 and who inherited the family business, and Henry Benjamin, born in 1852, who, according to his great-granddaughter Gillian Beverley Smith, of Droitwich, was not attracted to the business, but wished for adventure and ran away and enlisted in the 12th Lancers. She says that Charlotte and Edward bought him out twice but to no avail. He was determined to have an army career and this he achieved, serving some time in India, He married Eugenia Elizabeth Baker at Canterbury, where he was stationed, in 1880. In the Regimental records, during the 1880s, his name was given as Bouldsbridge, but, when he and his family subsequently settled in Birmingham they were sometimes known as Bouldstridges and sometimes as Boulstridges When he died, in 1921, he was recorded as an army pensioner and caretaker at a jewellers. One of Henry's grandsons, Henry Victor Bouldstridge, who was born in 1905 and died in 1981, was a company director and sometime President of the Birmingham Engineering and Building Centre. Henry Victor's brother, Cyril Edward, was honoured, as the founder of music libraries, by being included in a civic reception for 100 Great Brummies, arranged as a part of the city's centenary celebrations in 1990.
