    Francis Bolstridge, who was baptised at Bedworth on 14th May 1775, joined the Warwick Militia in 1803. In 1833, then a sergeant, he was discharged due to severe gout, at the age of " 63 " . According to the Militia records, he was 5ft . 91/2ins. tall, had grey hair, dark eyes, a dark complexion and was of good character! The Militia had been re organised and increased in size in 1798 in the face of possible invasion by the French. From then on, the name Militia was restricted to infantrymen and the term Yeomanry was used for the cavalry units
