At his enlistment he was assigned to the Hussars of the Line S/no 20617

At enlistment his address was 4 Cashes Lane Coventry and Miss Maria Robotham quoted as next of Kin.
It appears he was mobilised about 1917.
In the 1901 Census Maria was his father's House Keeper. His father Thomas died in 1909 in Coventry.
Maria eventually married his Uncle James a widower at Netherseal near Ashby de la Zouch
