    • Where was George Tonks in the 4 years before the birth of his son and his marriage. It has been suggested he may have been in India as when his daughters died in the house at Ratcliffe, Jasmin Cottage, there were found coins and stamps from India dated the 1860's.

      He was the parish constable in 1885 - 1895 at Ratcliffe and his account book has been deposited at the Leicester Records office.
