  Notes	Deene Situated off the A43 Corby to Stamford road, approximately four miles north of Corby. A manor, owned by the monks of the Abbey of Westminster, was in existence at Deene at the time of the Domesday Book in 1086. The estate was owned by the de Dene family in the 13th and 14th centuries, followed by the Tyndales in the 15th century, and then by the Littons, until it was sold to Sir Robert. Following the death of Sir Robert in 1520, the property was taken over by Sir Thomas, and subsequently by Sir Edmund in 1549, who entertained Queen Elizabeth I at Deene in 1566. One of the last remaining estate villages, belonging to Deene Park and inhabited by estate workers and old retainers. Deene Park estate has been owned since the 16th century by the Brudenell family, who are descendants of the Earls of Cardigan. The church of St. Peter was originally built in the 12th century, but was extensively restored in 1868 by Lady Adeline Cardigan in memory of her husband, James - 7th Earl of Cardigan, who was famous for his part in the Battle of Balaclava and the Charge of the Light Brigade.
