Harold enlisted on 17th August 1914 at Tamworth and was discharged to the reserve list.
At his enlistment he was assigned to the Hussars of the Line S/no 20617
Age 21 Years six months born Leicester Occupation Clerk
At enlistment his address was 4 Cashes Lane Coventry and Miss Maria Robotham quoted as next of Kin.
It appears he was mobilised about 1917.
In the 1901 Census Maria was his father's House Keeper. His father Thomas died in 1909 in Coventry.
Maria eventually married his Uncle James a widower at Netherseal near Ashby de la Zouch
